At first glance,
Feyt co-founder Ferebee Taube gives off a quintessential downtown cool vibe, but her sweet North Carolina drawl is a dead giveaway. A Southern girl at heart, she earned her fashion stripes at iconic American fashion brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. Her latest role, as creative director of a budding digital empire, keeps her busy at the office while her three rambunctious boys (including twins!) ensure that her home life is just as lively and demanding. In her loft-like uptown apartment overlooking the East River, she and her husband surround their boys with modern, but never precious, décor and bold works of art—Damien Hirst is front and center in the living room while Roy Lichtenstein prints hang above the twins’ Ikea beds. While the space is decidedly grown-up in design, Taube made sure to avoid hard-edged furniture and admits she’s happiest when all three boys are zipping around in their Plasma cars at lightning speed.

1. "Coffee
2. Breakfast at the diner with all the kids on the weekends
3. My house in the country (so that my boys can burn off all their energy)
4. And most importantly, having a husband who is so involved with the boys, and always lets me sleep in on the weekends!"

"I wasn’t terribly surprised when I found out I was having twins—my father is a twin, my husband is a twin, his mother is a twin, and my mother has twin sisters! From the moment I got pregnant, I had a feeling we were having twin boys. I just knew it. The first couple of years were more challenging than they otherwise would have been, but it has made me stronger in so many ways. And then when Clarke was born, I was able to experience the entirely different kind of bond that a mother can have with a singleton."

"We decided on the name Bishop because that was my maiden name. And we just like the name Ford (it’s actually his middle name). It's a Southern thing to go by your middle name—Ferebee is my middle name but that's what I've been called since the day I was born."

"Motherhood really puts things into perspective—you realize that nothing is as important as these little people you are raising."

"The most important thing to me is to really engage with my kids when I'm not working—I put my phone away and really connect with them. I would rather leave the office early so that I can be with them at dinner and bedtime, and then stay up late finishing up any work that needs to be done. At the same time, having my own company definitely means I have to make sacrifices, and always be available."
"My husband found this Peep print years ago at a flea market. I never thought it would end up in our son's bedroom."

"They love to race around the hallways of our apartment on their plasma cars at maximum speed, missing glass cabinets by mere centimeters. I cannot believe no one has landed in the emergency room yet! They are true boys—anything with wheels that goes fast is fine with them."

"Seeing the bond that Bishop, Ford, and Clarke have developed is amazing. The way they hug each other, and care for each other, and when one starts giggling, the others follow suit. Nothing makes me more proud than the fact that they truly love each other and have never seemed to exhibit any major sibling rivalry. For them, life is better with permanent playmates!"
"I grew up in the South where there were high expectations for good manners and good behavior, and despite being fairly laid-back as a mom, I definitely run a tight ship! Otherwise, with three kids under three, it can become total chaos!"

"Aside from getting married and becoming a mom, starting
Feyt with
Eleanor, who is one of my closest friends, has definitely been the most exciting moment in my life. I often refer to the company as my fourth child!"

"I love Clarke’s scrappiness—he has to be tough being the youngest! He will do anything to get a laugh out of his older brothers."
My favorite part of the day with the kids is curling up before bedtime, reading books and talking about our day and what is to come tomorrow. I also love sneaking up to Bishop and Ford’s door at night and listening to the hilarious conversations they have together. Even as babies in cribs, they would chat every night—it’s wonderful to listen to how they interact."
"My husband and I try to go out for dinner alone once a week, and we also make a point to still occasionally travel together without the kids. We recently got back from Turkey and, as hard as it was to leave the kids, we knew they were in good hands with their grandparents. It gave us a chance to spend quality time together without the every day stresses of parenting."

"The hardest thing about being a mom is waking up early! I’m not kidding, if my kids only slept until 8:00 a.m. every day, I wouldn’t complain about anything else!"
"I think my modern design sensibility actually works well with the kids because there isn’t a lot of excess clutter—I designed our home in a loft-like manner so that the boys would have openness and freedom to run around."

"We bought this place just before I got pregnant with the twins. We spent two years renovating so by the time we moved in, they were nine months old and then I got pregnant with Clarke three months later. I knew we’d end up having three kids, I just didn’t realize it would happen so quickly. I loved being downtown so much and I was resistant to leaving, so my one condition was that we had to make the place feel like a downtown loft—we brought the loft-like feeling uptown."

"I make sure to keep things low maintenance. I do minimal highlights on my hair and keep it long, so that I only have to get it done every 4-5 months. I also use
Chantecaille Tinted Moisturizer, which gives me enough coverage and evens out my skin tone so that I don't have to deal with foundation, concealer, and powder. I like pedicures, but I rarely get manicures—it drives me crazy having to sit still without working on my iPhone or reading, and then it only lasts a few days!"
"The way Bishop, Ford, and Clarke all run to me at top speed and jump into my arms when I walk through the door is the best, and I love just watching them explore the world and learn new things every single day. I’m always astounded by how much they can take in and remember—nothing gets past them!"
"Being handed two little babies at the same time when I was lying on the hospital bed and just immediately falling in love with them both was a humbling moment. And then having a third baby a year and a half later and realizing it was possible to love another child just as much as the first two!"
"Honeslty, I woud love to have one more in a couple of years. It would be amazing to have a little girl."
"I wish I were a good Southern cook like my Mom and Grandmothers!"
